The Great Wall
How the Orlando Area Expressway Authority is saving the day. . . . With the economy tanking and bills on the rise, a great number of people
are finding themselves having trouble making ends meet. Food prices are up,
gas costs more than ever, and banks are foreclosing on houses.
It's high time someone did something about these important issues.
Thankfully, the Orlando Area Expressway Authority has risen to the challenge.
They have taken our hard-earned toll money and turned it into something
worthwhile for the community: Giant walls to block out the poor people.
The newly constructed Poor Person Barrier (PPB) is an idea ahead of its time.
With the gap growing between the haves and have-nots, who wants to see those
middle class families turn into half-starved remnants of their former selves?
If you're one of the lucky few who still can afford toll roads, why should
you be bogged down and depressed by the sight of a community in shambles?
It's bad enough that many expressways were constructed through the middle
of poor areas, should drivers really be expected to look at them as well?!?
The very thought is repugnant.
In response to my level-headed outrage, those clever engineers thought of
everything. As if the elegance of the wall was not enough, stunning
flowers now overflow the median of the road. Current water restrictions may
keep poor families from watering their lawns, but nothing will hold back
the toll collectors from lushly decorating the roads with water-guzzling
flowers and plants. Kudos to the Expressway Authority for their commitment
to beauty and excellence!
The economy may be shot, but it's nice to know that there's still somewhere
I can go to stick my head in the ground. Thanks, Expressway Authority!
Jeff's moral for the day: Turning a blind eye is easy. Building a
wall takes skill.
